The historic restaurant of the Workers´ Museum
The restaurant in the museum’s basement is the only scheduled basement bar-room in Copenhagen. Try the taste of history. The bill of fare has been brought back to the time around the turn of the 19th century. The historic rooms have been restored to their 1892 appearance, and the restaurant has kept its original name: Café & Ølhalle 1892.
The restaurant takes pride in cooking meals in the good old-fashioned way. Our bread is freshly baked. We make our own relishes and pickles. Our ‘Star’ Herring has been marinated in old-fashioned beer. All the culinary efforts fill the kitchens with a mouth-watering fragrance. All the dishes are made from scratch in our own kitchen. Let a superb hand-brewed beer accompany your meal. Why don’t you try out a Stjerne (Star) bottle of lager with its 1947 label from the Workers’ Brewery ‘Stjernen’ or a Stauning Klassik with its rich and rounded body. The beer served in Café & Ølhalle ‘1892’ is brewed according to old traditions. You should also try Arbejder Gylden, a wonderful aquavit distilled for Café & Ølhalle ‘1892’ exclusively.
Guests paying a visit to the Café & Ølhalle ‘1892’ will be welcomed by host, chef Jesper Holmberg, who together with his waiters and chefs capture a cheerful atmosphere and this is an extra ingredient in his delicious meals.
Opening Hours
Our restaurant Café & Ølhalle is closed until 15th November 2015.
The restaurant is open Monday-Saturday from 11.00-17.00.
Evenings and Sundays only open for pre-booked events and private parties.
In November and December the restaurant is also open on Sundays from 11.00-17.00.
The Workers' Museum is open Monday-Sunday 10.00-16.00.
Menues
Our historic restaurant “Café and Ølhalle” has been preparing delicious meals since 1879. Our chefs bake, pickle, brew and cook all dishes from scratch as they did in the good old days. We use only the very best produce and ingredients treated with loving care for the benefit and pleasure of our guests.
On offer we have a wide selection of unique and traditional Danish dishes which have made us sought after by Danish and international clients. Complete the delicious event by tasting our range of hand-brewed beers from the micro brewery Braunstein. Why don’t you try a ‘Stjerne’ bottle of lager with its 1947 label from the Workers’ Brewery ‘Stjernen’ or a Stauning Klassik with its rich and rounded body.
On offer we also have delicious contemporary dishes inspired by French cuisine well suited for banquets and weddings. We’ll be happy to advise you on the best choice of wines for your menu.

Capacity
The main room of the restaurant can accommodate 70 guests. The adjacent salon will accommodate another 30 guests.
